Important Note to Potential Members

      This is a newly created website.  It is designed to develop encyclopedic knowledge - - but for now - - the information is minimal to the estimated 2 to 3 year forecast.  To consider present value, think of it as a magazine subscription with a definite hedge against future increases.  That is the reason for the low $20/year membership and 10 year guarantee of no price increase for those joining now.  We need your membership & knowledge input.  We need your help now -- Your input and help will become the backbone of this information website. As the website grows, without notice, this bargain will be changed. No matter how much the site grows, no matter what additions, this founding group will have access to all benefits, both present and future.

 

     The most obvious member benefit is the information (and linked websites associated with the term) in & being added to the 9 categories listed at the bottom of this page.

 

     Less obvious - the interactive area Discussion forums, Question & Answer, chat rooms are planned for the future.  Importantly, now is member contribution of information.  At the option of the editors, members will be able to contribute information for the following reasons: 1. To share information with others as they share with you.  2. When you read about, see or learn a neat cooking tip - - now you have a place to put it for easy reference in the future.  (instead of looking through back issues of cooking magazines, cook books, or worse yet, forgetting about it)  3. Lastly, because we are in a 'policed' subscription community - there is a reduced likelihood of pranksters purposefully adding false information.

 

     The future looks great.  Because of the computer age, information will be constantly growing & edited.  Also, plans are for more projects are already being worked on.  With the computer, organization, faith and a few clicks on the mouse, who knows what else - - The World is Our Oyster.

 

The Present Developing Categories

  1. FSG E-cyclopedia: Terms (like apple) are accessed by an alphabetical index, a categorical index, or a search option. All terms are written in an unique, standardized manner. The up to 27 subheadings allows one to read all about the term or quickly & easily go to the information they want. No hassle -- that's nice.

  2. Cooking Methods: About the same as the E-cyclopedia, just dealing with cooking methods.

  3. Culinary Equipment: About the same as the E-cyclopedia, just dealing with food related equipment.

  4. Substitutions-Equivalents-Closely Related Items: Out of something? Don't like the meat or vegetable in a recipe? This is the place to check out.

  5. FSG Recipes: Recipes are all around (cookbooks, magazines, on T.V., newspapers, the Internet, friends & family). Because we are a food website, for various reasons, we will be developing our own recipe collection.

  6. Nutritional Information: Nutritional information is supplied as a subheading for each food term -- but -- here is a quick reference chart to readily access.

  7. Tables-Charts-Measurements: In the indexes of cookbooks, etc. are neat, easy to read "clumps of information". This is the place to look for those tables, etc.

  8. Food Dictionary: The definition of Foods and Food Related Items is supplied as a subheading for each term -- but, here is a quick reference.

  9. Yields of Foods: How much meat in a whole chicken? After peeling, etc. your vegetables, how much will you be left with? Here is the place to look (it will also be a subheading for each food term).
